The
Biography > 2002
What is a band if not a family of magicians working together
simultaneously to create a force of combined molecule and emotion to
invoke a vivid understanding of dominating the human soul with sound; a
reticent call, if you will, to the “average” listener to gather his or her
personal belongings at a given moment, drop everything else, and follow
with a curious ear. Expectations are high and trials are rigorous, but let
us reach the higher elevation of intellectualism and productivity so that
we might achieve and fail together. There are no “fans” only participants.
So, join us or just get on with the rest of your life.
Lovedrug, the band, is comprised of a small group of
humans, not entirely unlike yourself, who in unsuccessful search of
fulfilling the void, decided to take action against the monster and fill
it with the beloved sounds of music. Your creators are as follows:
-
Michael Shepard
- supplies the weird voice and guitar wanderings with
occasional shining moments in keys.
-
Adam Ladd -
provides the thick underbelly genius of underappreciated bass mastering
and percussion extraordinar.
-
Matt Bentley
- brings tragically beautiful guitar tricks and formations to the
table along with a sparkly voice from beyond.
-
Joas Miller –
extends forth an array of extremely loud and precise drumming with the
multidimensional talent of playing sad keyboard parts and singing all at
the same time.
Lovedrug, the band, has been
together for 6 months but has existed since the beginning of time. All of
its members have been playing music in bands since they were in the womb.
Lovedrug recently finished recording a five song EP due for independent
release in August 2002. Lovedrug is currently looking for label
representation and a booking agent.
>I was hiking alone in northern
Greenland once when the Yeti asked me, “Yxfer^hyfgi ghtyr wytgth th
roun?”(What the hell do they sound like?) to which I responded: Lovedrug
is a prolific, icy hot rock band with enough wit and art to be considered
indie yet with enough marketability and prouise to battle that of an arena
art rock reputation. Their aura is loud and soft, cute and evil, calm and
angry surrounded by rhythm and hugeness that is uncompromised by the
occasional humorous anecdote and awkward silence that immediately
proceeds. In summary, they’re quite something, I assure you.<
