December 23 Holidays, narratives, and other thoughts for our Press Corps friends, I had a dream last night that a giant man-eating elf invaded the privacy of my home by turning into fine polluted air molecules thereby drifting through the ventilation system AND down the chimney into my wreck room undetected. His name was Villeen and he spoke both german and clingon fluently. After he re-materialized he crept slowly upstairs and began hacking his way through my bedroom door with a double edged six foot axe with stainless steel handle. The sound was horrendous and it woke me up instantly. It was abrasive to say the least but still graceful, as elves are, he slipped through the now torn asunder door to my room and pulled out a small book from his sleeve. He handed it to me and I tried desperately to focus on its content. It was a cliff noted version of "how to fillet human flesh for the baking"!! What kind of cruel bastard would hand such a book to a fellow after awaking him in such a ludicrously violent manor with such festive sarcasm as to ascend from the chimney like old saint Nick or something? I pondered as he reached for his blade. I said a quick prayer to Zeus... who happened to be sleeping in the bedroom next door... and then, out of nowhere, a small rabbit dressed in a suit and top hat appears and the man eating elf is nowhere to be seen. The rabbit hops up onto the bed with me and rests gently against his cane as he musters the strength to speak some portion of infinite wisdom to me in some crazy rabbit language. But, to my surprise he spoke english and with the voice of Jeremy Irons said to me: " Be at peace and go out into the snow, for the treasure waits for you under the elephant tree." Then he hopped off and I threw myself out the window. Just as I hit the ground I awoke in a jolted panic screaming something unintelligent. So, everybody, thanks so much for all the hard work and glorious patience and appreciation for us this year. We have been so very excited and fortunate to have met so many of you through shows and various events, and we so look forward to meeting more of you this next year. As you may already know and remember, we try to do something special for each holiday season. This year we're please to share a concept video for "Pretend You're Alive", which was shot on various locations in Japan by James Brew of Duluth, MN - we've posted it in the "Exclusives" section. Also, enjoy some excitement with us... We are currently recording new material and will continue to record through January. The new songs are completely righteous and turning out spectacularly; I can't wait for everyone to hear them! Next year starting out we will be touring some more for the re-release of "Pretend You're Alive" but we hope to get a move on the new album and have it available for you all very soon! July 14 Exclusive Update: The Juliana Theory tour and more… Hello friends, Just a quick update from Lovedrug HQ to let you know what’s on the band’s agenda for the next few months. First off, the band is taking a much-needed respite following the current run of headlining and support dates with Mae, which conclude on July 24th. Other than a couple random spot dates (Switchfoot, Purple Door Festival, etc.), August will see the band just generally put their feet up for a much-deserved break. Who knows, maybe they’ll even find time to write some new songs. Then it is back to the road. The band is happy to announce that they’ll be touring with The Juliana Theory starting in August through most of September. TJT will be featuring material off their brand new LP “Deadbeat Sweetheart”, which comes out September 13th, so it's sure to be a great show. Thanks again to everyone for your support.
